Everyone wants to get government jobs and the opportunity to study in public universities, the highest income in proportion to their age. Some do not hesitate to resort to illegal methods if they lack competence or self-belief. As a result of this, heinous unethical incidents like proxy and question leak are happening. Eligible candidates are left behind. Some are deprived even with the maximum amount in trying to reach the desired destination. There are millions of stories of such disappointment. Even then, the incident of proxy and question leak did not stop. Who will stop them? Their release is easily met by law enforcement. 87 students of DU were accused in such incidents in 2017. But all were released due to lack of sufficient evidence. That is why the academicians have called for all efforts to prevent question leakage. They are talking about blaming not only the leakers but also the parents.

It is known that yesterday, a young man named Abdur Rauf Mia (28) was caught while giving proxy in preliminary examination for the post of health assistant of Chittagong district civil surgeon office. He was arrested from Omargani MES College center under Khulshi police station of the city. In this incident, he has been sentenced to 1 month imprisonment.

Earlier, there were complaints of question mistakes in all the steps of recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools. Among them, 74 people were arrested in the first phase of the examination and 13 people were arrested in the third phase of the examination. Regarding the third stage arrests, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Intelligence Branch (DB) Chief Additional Commissioner Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed said that seven people were arrested in Madaripur and one student in Rajbari along with their answer sheets and digital devices during the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment exam held on March 29. In this incident, two separate cases were filed in the respective police stations of the two districts. Their arrests are shown in these cases. Arrested in Rajbari, the examinee later admitted responsibility in the court and gave a statement under section 164.

Earlier, 37 people were arrested in Gaibandha, 19 in Rangpur and 18 in Dinajpur on charges of fraud in the first phase recruitment examination on December 8 last year. At that time, 24 MasterCard, 20 Bluetooth, 17 mobile phone sets, bank checks and stamps were recovered from them.

125 accused including 87 students of this university have been acquitted in the Dhaka University (DU) admission test question paper leak case. Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat of Dhaka's cyber tribunal gave this verdict recently. The case was filed six-and-a-half years ago under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. Among the acquitted persons, at least 21 are former leaders and activists of Chhatra League. There are eight businessmen. There is also one person who was recommended in BCS non-cadre.

On October 20, 2017, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police filed a case at the Shahbagh police station in the capital, alleging that the admission test question papers of Dhaka University were leaked. The case alleged offenses under two Acts (ICT and Public Examinations). On June 24, 2019, after investigating the case, the CID issued two charge sheets against 125 people under separate laws. The complaint was framed in September 2022 in the ICT Act case.

After framing of charges, summonses, warrants of arrest and non-bailable arrest warrants are issued to produce witnesses in court. However, the state presented only one witness in the court. The only witness who testified in court also did not give any evidence to support the allegations. Sections (57 and 63) of the ICT Act which have been charged in the case have not been established in the trial. So the accused were acquitted.

In the verdict, the court said that separate charge sheets have been filed in the case alleging the same crime. But a person cannot be tried and convicted more than once in a criminal case for the same offence.

On October 19, 2017, CID arrested Chhatra League leader Mohiuddin Rana from Shahidullah Hall of Dhaka University and Abdullah Al Mamun from Amar Ekushey Hall on the basis of information provided by media persons. Based on the information of the two, a candidate named Ishrak Hossain was arrested from the admission examination Hall of Dhaka University on October 20. CID registered the case on the same day. 46 of the accused in the case gave confessional statement in the court under section 164.

Former Director of Education and Research Department of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Siddiqur Rahman said that question gap means degradation of our values. It is related to the morality of the nation. When the morality of those concerned with education ends, the society loses its ideals. That is why questionable events should be looked at seriously. All quarters need to make all-out efforts to prove them.

Professor Mizanur Rahman of Dhaka University said that that the students involved in cheating get the opportunity to do this work with the help of their parents. A few lakhs of money have to be paid to crack the question. Where do students get so much money? That is why questioners should be punished as well as whistleblowers.
