The fifth edition of the International Film Festival, which will be place in Sylhet, has received more than 3,000 film submissions. This time, participants included producers from 111 nations.
The deadline for film applications to the fifth Sylhet Film Festival is this Friday(November 18). In total, 3065 films from 111 different nations were submitted in 6 categories, which is a record high compared to the previous five seasons.
The Sylhet Film Festival took place last October 17; which was organized by the Sylhet Agricultural University. The film submission procedure was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Md. Mostafa Shamsuzzaman, the director of the student counseling and guidance department at Sylhet Agricultural University, who also serves as the Film Council`s chief advisor.
The Sylhet Agricultural University Film Council`s president, Sabyasachi Niloy, stated that the selection process for the submitted films will continue over the next days. I am hopeful that I will be able to offer the 5th edition of the Sylhet Film Festival to everyone on time.
In order to encourage independent films, it should be noted that the Sylhet Film Festival has been organized by the Sylhet Agricultural University Film Society since 2017. The organization hosts a variety of activities, such as movie screenings, panel discussions, and workshops.
