Free seeds and chemical fertilizers have been distributed to 3000 poor and marginal farmers under the Agricultural Incentive Program in Sandwip. These seeds and fertilizers were distributed in Sandwip Upazila Parishad premises yesterday.According to Agriculture Office sources, in the financial year 2023-2024, 5 kg seeds, 10 kg DAP and 10 kg MOP chemical fertilizers, and 10 kg MPO were distributed free of charge to 3 thousand farmers in Sandwip Upazila.Sandwip Upazila Agriculture Officer Maruf Hossain presided.
Sandwip Upazila Executive Officer Reagan Chakma spoke as the chief guest at the organized event. Upazila Project Implementation Officer Ismail, Upazila Education Officer Khorshed Alam, Upazila Social Service Officer Tajimul Halim, Alauddin Bedan, Abul Khair Nadeem, Jasim Uddin etc. were also present. The Upazila Agriculture Officer said that to compensate the farmers for the damage caused by the cyclone and free agricultural rehabilitation and agricultural incentives, crop seeds, and fertilizers have been distributed among the marginal and small farmers. These seeds and fertilizers are being distributed under the overall supervision of the upazila administration and the upazila agriculture office and this trend will continue in the future.
