Coast Guard has seized 7 lakh Yaba tablets in a raid in Saint Martin's Sea in Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar. However, it was not possible to arrest anyone in this incident. Lieutenant Commander Abdur Rahman, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed the matter on Tuesday. He said, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the area of approximately 1.5 nautical miles southeast of the Saint Martin coast last Monday night. At this time, a wooden boat from Myanmar was seen entering the waters of Bangladesh. The coastguard signaled the boat to stop. The boatman did not stop the boat and quickly fled towards the Myanmar border. As the coastguard chased the boat, at one point some brown plastic sacks wrapped in polythene were thrown into the water and quickly crossed the Myanmar border. Later, Coast Guard members recovered a total of 10 sacks from the water. Seven lakh pieces of Yaba were seized after searching the recovered sacks. He further said that the seized Yaba was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
