Acting Registrar of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NUST). Jasim Uddin has resigned. Earlier, the officers-employees of Noakhali University of Science and Technology observed a four-day strike for the eight-point demand, including his dismissal from the post of registrar (additional duties).
Nobiprobi Officers Association President Sakhawat Hossain said on Monday (February 6) around 1:00 p.m., the VC confirmed the resignation of the acting registrar at around 10:30 a.m. today. The VC has agreed to almost all of our 8-point demands. Our next demands will be accepted gradually.
It is known that last Tuesday (January 31) from 10 am to 12 pm, the officers-employees held a program in NUST`s central Shaheed Minar with 8 point demands, including the release of the acting registrar. Earlier, on Monday, a memorandum signed by Officers Association President Sakhawat Hossain and General Secretary Mejbah Uddin Palash containing 8 points was given to the Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali University of Science and Technology.
The main demand of officers association officials in the memorandum was to relieve the current registrar (additional charge) from the post within 72 hours. The second demand is to appoint a registrar who has the qualifications and experience of the liberation war in a permanent position as soon as possible. Our program will continue until the claim is accepted. However, our program did not cover emergency services, class test assistants and library reading room staff.
Their other demands are approval of officers-employees association. Confirmation of permanent employment of master roll and contractually appointed officers and upgradation of newly permanent employees within next seven days. Revising the recruitment and promotion policies of the officers and revising the policies for technical - non-technical positions with three upgradations within the next one month. The acting registrar resigned at the end of the fourth working day of the agitation.
Jasim Uddin, the former acting registrar of Noakhali University of Science and Technology, was called to inquire about this, but he did not receive the call. Therefore, no statement was found on this matter.
Noakhali University of Science and Technology VC Professor Didarul Alam confirmed the resignation of acting registrar Md Jasim Uddin. However, he did not comment outside of this.
