MP's son Atahar Ishraq Shabab Chowdhury defeated the president of Noakhali District Awami League (AL) and former chairman of Subarnachar Upazila for three consecutive times, Principal Khairul Anam Salim in the Subarnachar Upazila Parishad election of Noakhali.
Last Wednesday at 10 pm, Returning Officer, District Senior Election Officer Md Nawabul Islam declared him unofficially elected for the chairman post.
According to the announced results, Shabab Chowdhury got 37 thousand 648 votes with the pineapple symbol. His nearest rival district AL president AHMA Khairul Anam Chowdhury Salim (Doat Kolom) got 36 thousand 945. The difference between the winning candidate and the defeated candidate is 703 votes.
While expressing his feelings, Atahar Ishraq Shabab Chowdhury said, first of all, I express my gratitude to Almighty Allah. I am eternally grateful to my people for trusting me. Subarnachar will be a smart upazila in the formation of Prime Minister's Smart Bangladesh soon.
