A bicyclist was killed in a road accident in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. The accident took place on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway in Godagari upazila of the district.
The deceased was identified as Alif Hossain (35), son of Sajid Hossain of Sheikhpur Kumarpur in the upazila.
According to locals, Alif Hossain was going to Rajshahi for work on a bicycle around 8am. At that time, a covered van was coming from the opposite direction with electrical equipment. In Sarail area, the covered van lost control and hit the bicyclist. The rider died on the spot.
Abdul Matin, officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station, said on information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The driver of the covered van was arrested from the spot.
