The traditional boat race of rural Bengal is organized in the Kumar River of Teljuri village of Boalmari upazila. The 123rd boat race competition and rural fair was held at Kumar River in Teljuri of Shekhar Union of the upazila on Tuesday afternoon. At least 12 boats from different districts participated in the boat race and fair. During this time, spectators came on both sides of the Kumar River.

In the boat race, Osman Sheikh of Arpara village of Maksudpur upazila won the first prize, Ilias of Rupapat village of Boalmari upazila won the second and Rizaul's boat of Dulagaon village of Muksudpur upazila won the second and third positions respectively. Former President of Central Chhatra League Liaquat Sikder distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Presided over by ASM Mursid (Litu Sikder), the function was addressed, among others, by Upazila Vice Chairman Syed Rasel Reza, Freedom Fighter Dr Golam Kabir and General Secretary of Mela Udjapan Committee Obaidur Sardar.
