A case has been filed against 55 people, including the district president and general secretary and metropolitan general secretary, in connection with the attack on former Central Chhatra League member Advocate Prabal Chowdhury in Sylhet. Besides, 200-250 unidentified people were named as accused in the case. The court directed kotowali police station to register the complaint as an First Information Report (FIR). Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate-1st Court Judge Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan passed the order. The accused are Sylhet District Chhatra League President Nazmul Islam, General Secretary Rahel Siraj, Metropolitan Chhatra League General Secretary Naim Ahmed, Councilor Ruhel Ahmed and Sylhet Engineering College Chhatra League President Misbaul Karim Rafiq.
Advocate Probal Chowdhury, assistant public prosecutor of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate's Court and the plaintiff in the case, confirmed the matter. He said the court ordered the police station to register the complaint under the Speedy Trial Act after a complaint was filed against 55 people, including the president, general secretary and general secretary of Sylhet district Chhatra League.
It is known that Prabal Chowdhury was attacked in Dariapara area of Sylhet city on Thursday night. During this time, the attackers opened fire and detonated cocktails.
