As a part of the fish protection and conservation campaign, the China fishing net was recovered. Then they were destroyed by fire. This operation was conducted under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Majharul Islam around noon yesterday.
It is known that Meherpur district administration and Sadar Upazila Fisheries Office initiated the complaint after receiving the complaint that they are illegally hunting fish by throwing nets in the Bhairab River. Later they were destroyed by fire. China double nets are more dangerous than current nets. Current nets can only catch small fish but Chinese double nets destroy all types of fish fry.
This campaign will continue in the future and everyone's cooperation is requested to restore the fish population. Mir Zakir Hossain, Senior Fisheries Officer of Meherpur Sadar Upazila, among others, was present there during the campaign.
