Damage of Tk 3 cr due to melting of raw bricks

Two lakh raw bricks of Bismillah Bricks were destroyed in two days of rain. The location of the institution is in Charpaniya of Baluchar Union of Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj. Cyclone Migzaum, formed in the Bay of Bengal, hit the Indian coast of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

As a result of this, rain started in various parts of the country on Wednesday night. It went on and on until last Thursday evening. Last Friday also it rained somewhere. The owners said that at least three crore bricks have been damaged in the kilns of the upazila due to this.

Korban Ali, the owner of Bismillah Bricks in Charpania, claims that his loss is Tk six lakh due to the loss of two lakh raw bricks. Most of the 50 brick kilns of Balurchar, Latabdi, Basil, and Kayin Union of the upazila have been damaged due to continuous rain. Raw bricks have melted due to wetness. According to Nazmul Molla, owner of Molla Bricks in Balurchar, his three lakh raw bricks were wasted. The amount of loss is Tk 10 lakh.

M/s National Bricks Manufacturing Company has two kilns in Islampur and Gudown Bazar area of Keyain Union. Six lakh raw bricks were wasted in two kilns. The owner of the company, Barkat Ullah, said that his total loss is more than Tk 15 lakh.

There are about 45 kilns under Upazila Itabata Malik Samiti. Beyond this, there are 5-7 kilns. Abdul Mannan is the general secretary of the association. According to him, many steam furnaces have also been extinguished. The loss is estimated to be Tk 3 crore.
