Rapid Action Battalion or RAB arrested seven people on charges of extortion on Feni-Noakhali regional highway. The extortionists have been handed over to Daganbhuana police station on yesterday morning. Earlier on Monday, they were arrested from the zero point of Daganbhuyan municipal area. According to the related sources, for a long time, an organized syndicate was forcibly extorting illegal extortion from various trucks, mini trucks, buses, CNG on that road and beating the drivers if they did not want to pay. On the basis of such complaints, RAB-7 increased intelligence surveillance in the area.
A team of them raided the area after collecting some evidence of the various owners of the extortion circle along with the truth of the allegations. At that time Zakir Hossain (30) of local municipal area, Ramzan Ali (30) of North Chidharpur area, Main Uddin (42) of North Chandpur area, Anwar Hossain (26), Yusuf (48), Abdul Al Raju (22), Alauddin (35) arrested. After searching their bodies, Tk33 thousand 2 hundred 25 of subscription cash collected from different cars and a huge amount of fake receipts were recovered and the 7 people were arrested in this incident. RAB claims, in the questioning of the arrested accused, they have been in collusion with each other for a long time in Daganbhujan municipality area and have been intimidating various transport drivers by forcing them to illegally give fake receipts or sometimes by extorting large sums of money on a monthly basis.
Company Commander Squad Leader of RAB-7 Camp in Feni Mohammad Sadekuul Islam confirmed the matter and said that the arrested accused and evidence have been handed over to Daganbhuana police station in Feni district for further legal action.
