Eye-catching bridge over Bankkali River

A new beautiful bridge has been installed to the two sides of the river at Bankkali in Cox's Bazar. The bridge is opening its doors to reunite people on both sides of the river. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the project on November 11. The bridge will then be opened to the public.

It was known that there is only a three-minute drive to this bridge from the district town. Along the bridge-road, the Bankkali River and some water bodies. Around which the whole area is filled with migratory birds. Environmentally, it is a lot like the haor area. The area is also being called the commercial capital of the future.

After observing, it was seen that people of different ages are coming from different areas to see this beautiful bridge before the inauguration. The bridge area was filled with tourists especially in the evening.

Shabina Yasmin, a young woman from Jhelongja in Sadar, said her house is six kilometers away from the bridge area. She came to see the bridge after knowing about it through Facebook.

Misbah of Khurushkul area on the banks of Bankkali river said, "When this bridge was not there, it was very difficult for us to come to Cox's Bazar city. I even had to cross the boat. We were constantly at risk. Now that the bridge has been constructed, we will be able to enter the city easily and very quickly."

According to Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), the work on the project began in 2019. It was also completed before the deadline. Built at a cost of Tk 259 crore, the 595-metre-long bridge has three 65-metre deep spans and 10 spans of 50 metres.

Mamun Khan, executive engineer of LGED Cox's Bazar, said, we will be able to explain the work before the end of the scheduled time. Further beautification work is underway on both sides of the river. He said the beautiful bridge will be opened to the public after the inauguration on November 11.
