Recently, miscreants broke the signboard pointing in the direction of the house of internationally renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud on the highway at Noorpur in Bhangar of Faridpur. The signboard read 'Tarek Masud's house'. On September 13, the local administration restored the broken signboard after reports were published in various media about the incident. However, after the incident of breaking the signboard, there was a lot of insecurity among Tareque Masud's family.
Later, Tareque Masud's brother Habibur Rahman Masud filed a general diary (GD) with Bhanga Police Station seeking security for Tareque Masud's village home and his family members.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhanga Police Station Md Ziarul Islam confirmed the matter yesterday afternoon. OC Ziarul Islam said, "Recently, a signboard on the highway near Tareque Masud's house was uprooted. Later, the signboard was rebuilt by the administration in a quick time. Habibur Rahman Masud, brother of filmmaker Tareque Masud, said, "I am a little worried about our house and family. Because a few days ago, miscreants broke a sign near our house. We also have a problem with a family's land next door.
Earlier, on September 11, two news reports were published in different media of the country titled "Miscreants broke the signboard of filmmaker Tareque Masud's house!" and on September 14, two news reports were published in different media of the country.
On August 13, 2011, a bus of Chuadanga Express collided head-on with a microbus carrying Tareque Masud and media personality Mishuk Munir at Joka in Ghior upazila of Manikganj. Five people, including Tareque Masud and Mishuk Munir, were killed on the spot. At the time of the incident, they were returning to Dhaka after seeing the shooting location of the film 'Kagojer Phul'. Tareque Masud has made several films including 'Muktir Gaan', 'Matir Moyna', 'Adam Surat', and ‘Runway’.
Tareque Masud is the son of Mashiur Rahman Masud and Nurunnahar of Noorpur village in Bhanga. His father was an assistant teacher at Bhanga Pilot High School. He (Tarek) is the eldest of five siblings.
