Gazipur Chowrasta flyover opened

The much-awaited Gazipur Chowrasta flyover has been opened for vehicular traffic. The Dhaka-Joidebpur and Mymensingh-bound flyover was opened for vehicular traffic from yesterday morning. By doing this, the suffering of the people traveling on this road will be reduced to a great extent from now on.

The Chandna Chowrasta area of Gazipur has been suffering from traffic jams for a long time. Passengers had to suffer for hours due to traffic jams. Now that suffering would be reduced by opening the flyover at Chandana intersection. But it will take some more time to get the full benefit of this flyover. Earlier, to go from Dhaka to Mymensingh and Joydevpur on this highway, one had to come via Bhogra bypass. With the opening of the flyover, direct traffic will be possible from now on.

Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbub Alam said that from now on, the ever-known suffering will be reduced. Additional traffic police will also be kept there to ensure smooth and safe traffic on the new flyover.

Incidentally, the duration of the project was four years from December 2012 to December 2016. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) could not start the project at this time. The duration of the project has been fixed till December this year by revising the three-phase project. Initially, the cost of the BRT project was estimated at Tk 2,398,400,000. After three revisions of the project, the cost has increased to Tk 4,268,320,000.
