Police arrested Omar Faruk, president of a union Jubo League with drugs in Feni. He was arrested from near Matubhuiyan Bridge on Feni-Noakhali regional highway in Daganbhuiyan upazila yesterday.
He was the son of Abdul Hai of South Alipur village and president of Sadar Union Juba League of the upazila.
Police said Faruk was going to Daganbhuiyan municipality with drugs by CNG autorickshaw. Earlier, on the basis of secret information, police took position near the Matubhuiyan Bridge. At that time, the CNG auto-rickshaw carrying him was searched and 24 bottles of intoxicating beer were recovered. The driver of the CNG auto-rickshaw, Solaiman, was also arrested in this connection. Solaiman is the son of Sultan of the same area.
Rasel Mia, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Daganbhuiyan Police Station, said the auto-rickshaw was seized. A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
Daganbhuiyan Upazila Jubo League President and local Yakubpur Union Parishad Chairman Abul Forkan Bulbul said I heard about the matter. Necessary organizational action will be taken in this regard after discussion in the party forum.
