A beautiful mural has been unveiled at Belgachi intersection of Shilaidah union of Kumarkhali to pay homage to the composer of the national anthem and baul artist, lyricist Gagan Harkara. Barrister Selim Altaf George, MP, unveiled the mural yesterday morning. Presided over by UNO Bitan Kumar Mandal, the function was attended, among others, by Municipal Mayor Shamsuzzaman Arun, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Amirul Arafat and Upazila Awami League Organising Secretary Salauddin Khan Tarek. On this occasion, the artists of Kumarkhali Shilpakala Academy performed Gagan Harkara's song 'Aami kothay pabo taaree, amar moner manush jaree' by Gagan Harkara in the mural premises.
UNO Bitan Kumar Mandal designed, planned and implemented the mural of Gagan Harkara under the overall direction of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Islam.
