Murder case against 18 of Satkhira

A murder case has been filed against 18 people on the charge of killing BNP worker Humayun Kabir from Dhaka in the name of crossfire on Satkhira bypass road.

Former Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman, then Additional Superintendent of Police Iltutmish, then Inspector (Unarmed) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Mohidul Islam and former PP Advocate Abdul Latif and many others have been made accused.

Azgar Ali, son of Moktar Ali of Kuchpukur village of Sadar Upazila and brother of the deceased, filed the case at Amli Court-1 of Satkhira on Sunday afternoon. Court judge Senior Judicial Magistrate Nayan Baral directed the OC of Satkhira Sadar police station to treat the case as a statement pending investigation.

The other accused named in the statement of the case are the then Inspector (Unarmed) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Sheikh Sekender Ali, former PP of Satkhira Judge Court Advocate Abdul Latif of Kamarbasha village of Sadar upazila, Rafiqul Islam Rafi of Kuchpukur village, Rabiul Islam, Naber Ali, Roni, Jony, Imamul Haque Palash, Anarul Islam, Shimul, Rabiul Islam of Baliadanga village, Mansur Ali of Debnagar, Hamzar Ali, Saiful Islam of Kuchpukur and, Zafar of Kashepur village.

The plaintiff's lawyer AKM Shamsuddoha Khokon confirmed the matter and said that it was not possible to file a case against the defendants due to the political context at that time. The filing of the case has been delayed due to a change in the political context. He demanded appropriate justice for those involved in extrajudicial killings.
