UP election campaign picks up pace

In the second phase of the sixth upazila parishad election, the election will be held in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria. The last day to submit nomination papers online was Sunday till 4 pm. 14 candidates have already submitted their nomination papers. Among them, 6 candidates for the post of chairman, 4 candidates for the post of vice chairman, and 4 candidates for the post of female vice chairman. All the candidates who submitted nomination papers are involved in Awami League politics. It has been found that a meeting was held at the Upazila Awami League party office with possible candidates on April 14, focusing on the Upazila elections. The candidates present in the meeting agreed to make the election as per the party's decision. On the other hand, some elders of the Awami League held a separate meeting on the same issue, and since then there has been some interest in the upazila elections. BNP, Jatiya Party, or any other party did not participate in the Akhaura Upazila Parishad elections.

Akhaura Upazila Election Officer Masud Ahmed Shikar said that 14 people submitted nomination papers by 4 pm on the last day of nomination submission. The nomination papers will be selected on April 23 and the symbols will be allocated among the candidates on May 2. On May 21, the Akhaura Upazila Parishad election will be held.
