A complaint was found against the husband of killing his wife by hacking to death in the Govipur village of Meherpur Sadar Upazila. The name of the deceased woman is Saleha Khatun. The incident took place at the victim's home yesterday morning.
It is believed that Elahi Boks, the husband, killed his wife due to a quarrel between them. The villagers arrested the accused husband and handed him over to the police. Later, the police recovered Saleha Khatun's body and sent it to the General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
According to local sources, Elahi Boks and his wife Saleha Khatun lived in their house. As there was a quarrel with the wife for any reason, the husband Elahi Box became angry and killed his wife with a local weapon. Meanwhile, other family members and neighbors rescued his wife Saleha Khatun, and took her to Meherpur General Hospital. The doctor on duty there declared her dead. Family members said that Elahi Boks is mentally unstable. On the other hand, the police arrested the killer with the help of the villagers.
Doctor Shafiqul Islam, the doctor on duty at Meherpur General Hospital, said that Saleha Khatun was taken to hospital in a serious condition. However, we could not save her due to excessive bleeding.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station OC (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the truth of the incident and said that Elahi Boks had been arrested. A murder case will be filed at Sadar police station in this incident. Further legal action will be taken subject to investigation into the murder.
