BRAC Bank has organized 'Uddokta 101 Trade Fair' at the bank’s Head Office to promote the products made by women entrepreneurs and help them create a market for their products.
On December 12, 2023, Syed Abdul Momen, Deputy Managing Director and Head of SME Banking of BRAC Bank, officially inaugurated this two-day long fair.
The fair was organized as part of 'Uddokta 101', the country's first women entrepreneurship accelerator program in the banking sector. BRAC University and BRAC Business School are this superb initiative's education and training partners.
The 4th Batch of 'Uddokta 101' classes was officially completed in November 2023. Women entrepreneurs participate in various activities of business development, including networking as well as gaining knowledge and capacity building across multiple business necessities through this course. As part of this program, the fair was organized at the Head Office of BRAC Bank on December 12-13, 2023. The main objective of this entrepreneurship fair was to honour, promote and encourage those women entrepreneurs working tirelessly to preserve and nurture the culture and heritage of our country through their products.
A total of 24 small and cottage industry women entrepreneurs displayed their collection of domestic and foreign products in front of BRAC Bank officials in the fair. At the fair, women entrepreneurs displayed and sold a variety of handicrafts made from jute and clay, as well as hand-stitched and block batik fabrics, hijabs, hand-made items, organic food items, various chocolate items, traditional Bangladeshi Jamdani, Muslin, Monipuri and jewellery. Products of both local and international arenas were displayed in a festive atmosphere.
Indrajit Sur, Head of Emerging Corporate, BRAC Bank; Khadija Mariam, Head of Women Entrepreneurship Cell; and BRAC University representative Dr. Ekramul Islam were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
