Ex-Chatra Union leader Pinaki Battacharya called a boycott like India out from the Maldives at January 17, 2024. He called this boycott as a protest of Indian intervention on national election of Bangladesh which held in January 07, 2024.

In February 2024, Bangladesh imported $1112.95 million products from India that was $943.50 in February 2023. Bangladesh import amount raised 17.96% from the previous year.

Bangladesh-India (Bharat) Maitri Samity president and war-wounded freedom fighter Md Rashidul Alam said about the boycott, there is no scope to divided the relation with Indian people. India is our friend indeed, they sheltered one crore people in their country when the freedom fight occurred. It’s the defeated Pakistani conspiracy to call Indian out boycott. Bangladesh is not fully sufficient in all sectors. Bangladesh has to export by import raw from other’s countries. Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina shows the courage to support Palestine. Where is the Pakistan in the context of Israel-Palestine context?

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) directly joined this boycott by senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi throwing his Indian shawl away in March 20.

BNP Leader Dr Harunur Rashid Bhuiyan Said, one month observation is not enough. Our domestic industries should be developed. Where our products are available in the consumer market, we should avoid all kind of foreign product for the sake of our own development and progress.

Md Shahzalal, one of the TSO (Territory Sales Officer) of Dhaka region said, there are a huge demand created for domestic products in the last 3 months. Rupchanda, Pepsi, coco-cola, parachute oil are highly effected by this boycott. Consumers ask for Bangladeshi products first. If no domestic products found in supply chain then customer choose the foreign products.
