Bhola Forum Dhaka (BFD), formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club to realize the just demands of the people of Bhola, including the speedy implementation of the Bhola-Barisal construction work, the establishment of a fertilizer factory in the district using gas produced in Bhola, the establishment of a medical college and hospital and a public university in the district.
People from all classes and professions of the district participated in the human chain held today morning.
The people of Bhola participated in the human chain holding banners and festoons with various demands. Leaders of BFD at various levels spoke in it. After the human chain, a protest procession was held on the road. At one stage, members of the law enforcement agencies obstructed the procession.
Later, a delegation submitted a memorandum to the CA to realize the demands of the people of Bhola. The delegation led by BFD, Dhaka General Secretary and former student leader Nizamul Haque Naeem, included Forum Assistant Secretary Mohammad Mohibullah, Culture Secretary and Daulatkhan Forum President M Kamal Uddin, Office Secretary Alamgir Hossain Sohag, Student Affairs Secretary Helal Uddin Rubel, Borhan Mahmu,d and Kabir Hossain Numan.
The human chain was moderated by Forum Assistant Secretary and Lalmohan Forum President Kazi Mohammad Shahe Alam, Char Fashion Forum President Principal Maula Mohammad Shahidullah, Borhan Uddin Forum President Principal Abdus Salam, Lalmohan Forum General Secretary Morshedul Islam Chowdhury, Monpura Forum General Secretary Al Mamun Nahid, Daulatkhan Forum General Secretary Habibul Islam Sohag, and others.
BFD General Secretary Nizamul Haque Naeem said in his speech, the demands that the people of Bhola are on the streets with are not a demand, these demands are the rights of the people of Bhola. It is not enough to consider Bhola district as an isolated island, it is necessary to implement the demands for the development of the entire country.
He said, the previous government had hung radishes in its name for the implementation of the Bhola-Barisal bridge, but did nothing. We have come to know that no effective initiative has been taken to implement the Bhola-Barisal bridge. If the interim government does not take any effective initiative in this regard, it will be a betrayal of the people of Bhola.
Nizamul Haque Naeem said, you know - the people of Bhola always struggle with natural disasters including storms, tidal waves and survive. They play a role in the front line in any struggle for national needs. Bhola district has also made the highest contribution as a single district in the July Revolution. The number of martyrdoms of the residents of this district is also more than any other district.
The human chain program was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Yusuf, a professor of the Islamic Studies Department of Dhaka University and vice-president of BFD.
In his presidential speech, he said that all the demands made in the memorandum, including the construction of the Bhola-Barisal bridge, are just the demands of the people of Bhola.
He told the government to accept these demands normally, otherwise the people of Bhola will be forced to bend their fingers.
The memorandum given to the CA highlighted several demands, including the construction of the Bhola-Barisal bridge, the establishment of a medical college and hospital in Bhola, the establishment of a public university, and the use of Bhola gas throughout the district. Other demands are ensuring an electricity supply everywhere and round the clock, establishing fertilizer factories and various mills, taking sustainable and effective measures to prevent river erosion, developing Bhola as a tourist area, and establishing a Bhola-Dhaka airport. The speakers in today`s human chain called for the speedy implementation of the demands of the people of Bhola.
