The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said the earthquake that struck on Monday afternoon had a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale. Its origin was 67 kilometers north-northeast of Kahramanmaras, Turkey, and the center was two kilometers below the surface.
