14-feet python released in Kaptai

 

The python, which was rescued from the Baraichari Sadar of Kaptai Upazila in Rangamati, has been released into the forest of Kaptai National Park. Yesterday at 11 am, the members of the forest department released the 14-foot-long python weighing about 15 kg in the forest. Earlier, locals rescued the python from the locality. The python was released in the forest in the presence of Kaptai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mohiuddin.

Kaptai Range Officer Abu Sufian Khandakar, Rayongkhiong Forest Service and Inspection Outpost Station Officer ASM Mohiuddin along with members of the Forest Department were also present. Kaptai UNO Md. Mohiuddin said that some local youths found the python in Baraichhari area of the upazila and rescued it at 3 pm on yesterday and informed us. The python was later handed over to the forest department and released at Kaptai National Park at 11 am.

Kaptai Range Officer Abu Sufian said the python recovered from the locality was 14 feet long and weighed about 15 kg. It is released in the deep forest of Kaptai National Park. He said that several pythons and other wild animals have been released in Kaptai National Park.
