Banks to remain closed in Barisal-Khulna city on June 12

All branches and sub-branches of scheduled banks, including their head offices, will remain closed on June 12 in Barisal and Khulna city corporation areas. Bangladesh Bank took this decision in view of the city corporation elections. Banks will remain closed in Araihazar municipality and Cox's Bazar municipality areas of Narayanganj district on the same day.

Bangladesh Bank's Department of Offsite Supervision issued the directive in this regard on Thursday (June 8). Barisal and Khulna city corporation elections will be held on Monday, the central bank said. On the same day, elections to two municipalities (Araihazar municipality of Narayanganj district and Cox's Bazar municipality of Cox's Bazar district) and Tarakanda Upazila Parishad of Mymensingh district will be held. Branches and sub-branches, including the regional offices of scheduled banks, will remain closed in the respective constituencies on Monday, the day of polling on the occasion of the by-election.
