-Six platoons of BGB deployed

In the first phase of the Sixth Upazila Parishad elections, elections will be held in two upazilas in Barisal today. Voting in Barisal Sadar and Bakerganj upazila elections will start from 8 am today till 4 pm. Yesterday at 11 o'clock the distribution of electoral equipment started from the office of the Assistant Returning Officer. The presiding officer and law and order members were handed over election equipment at the center. They are taking the equipment to the center through tight security. Ballot papers will be sent to the center this morning.

Barisal District Returning Officer said that they have already completed all their preparations. 4 platoons BGB have been deployed in Barisal Sadar upazila and two platoons of BGB in Bakerganj upazila during the elections. Apart from this, 5-6 policemen and 13 Ansar members will be deployed in each center. Besides, several RAB team patrols and other members of law enforcement will be deployed. There is a festive atmosphere around the election. Voters will now calculate and vote for the eligible candidate.

Polling will be held in 68 centers of Barisal Sadar Upazila and 113 centers of Bakerganj Upazila. The total voters in Barisal Sadar Upazila are 1 lakh 95 thousand 299 people.  Five people are competing for the post of chairman in the election. Four people are contesting for the post of male vice chairman. Three people are contesting for the post of female vice chairman. On the other hand, Bakerganj's total voters are 3 lakh 1 thousand 211 people. Four people are competing for the post of chairman in Bakerganj. Three people are contesting for the post of male vice chairman. Two people are contesting for the post of women vice chairman.
