A workshop on the module "Supply of Funds and Other Remittance Transactions of Bangladesh Post" prepared according to the business processes of the Postal Department in the iBAS++ system was inaugurated at the Agargaon Post Building by Faiz Ahmad Tayiab, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology today.
Faiz Ahmad Tayiab said, if we can bring all the modules of iBAS in one place and make a super app, it will be more effective. We want to accommodate the companies under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology through iBAS. We will keep this issue at the center point of the Digital Transformation Masterplan or the Evaluation Plan of iBAS with the Data Governance Authority. So that when financial organizations transact with non-financial or revenue sector organizations, they will have to maintain standards.
The Postal Department is a very old government organization, and its accounting structure is manual. This organization will have to be digitally structured through IBUS.
He also commented that the Postal Department will organize training if necessary through cooperation with the Ministry of Finance in this regard.
Faiz Tayiab also said that the technical installations like IBUS Plus Plus should be declared as CIE (Critical Information Infrastructure). Once this is done, the installations will get some protection under the Cyber Safety Ordinance. In addition, we can make a dashboard so that real-time transactions can be seen, accounting KPIs can be seen, through which we can see the success rates.
It is to be noted that this module, built on the iBAS++ system, will completely digitize and automate the cash withdrawal, deposit, and transaction activities with the central treasury through 72 main post offices of the Postal Department. The effective implementation of this module will ensure transparency, timeliness, and accuracy in the government accounting system. The module is an important step in the implementation of the government`s GIFMIS (Government Integrated Financial Management Information System) and Treasury Single Account framework.
Finance Department Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Majumder presided over the workshop, where Additional Secretary (Budget 1) of the Finance Department Bilkis Jahan Rimi, Additional Secretary (Budget and Macroeconomics) Sirajun Noor Chowdhury, Comptroller General of Accounts SM Rezvi, Director General of the Postal Department SM Shahabuddin and officials and employees of the concerned ministries and departments were present as special guests.
