Heatwave: Patients rise in hospitals

 

Nagarpur in Tangail has been experiencing heat waves of mild to moderate and at some places severe for almost three weeks. Farmers are unable to work in the crop fields due to the scorching sun and the elderly and children are in dire straits in the scorching heat. Also, people suffering from various diseases caused by viruses and bacteria are crowding the hospitals. Various medical centers including Upazila Health Complex due to intense heat The pressure on children and elderly patients is constantly increasing. Most of their patients suffer from fever, cough, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. The number of patients in the hospital is increasing day by day.

A 54-year-old Refaz, who sought treatment at the hospital, said that he had been suffering from diarrhea, body aches, and fever for 5 days. He also said that I have these problems in the hot summer. In this regard, Upazila Health Officer Roknuzzaman said that due to excessive heat, more patients are coming to the hospital than usual. Also, because of the high temperature, on average, 60/70 patients are coming out the door every day and 20/25 patients are being admitted daily. We are getting more fever cold cough patients and children are coming to the hospital with stomach problems, dehydration, diarrhea, pneumonia, bronchitis, and allergies.

He also said - to protect from extreme heat, wear thin and light cotton clothes, avoid direct sunlight use umbrellas while staying outside, and drink extra water and food saline to avoid dehydration. Avoid going out unless necessary. Day laborers should not work continuously for long hours. Do not shower after coming from hot and do not drink cold water. Also, there are nurses and doctors in the hospital, we can treat any problem due to heatstroke and we are always ready to provide treatment. Meanwhile, Tangail Meteorological Office authorities said that the temperature was recorded at 42 degrees Celsius yesterday afternoon.
