A court has ordered the death penalty for a wife, her alleged lover and her accomplice for murdering her husband in Jaflong, Sylhet.
Judge Shayla Sharmin of Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Court 4 delivered the verdict yesterday morning. Judge Kabir Hossain of Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Court 4 was the bench assistant.
The matter was confirmed by the court's Additional PP lawyer Md. Jalal Uddin.
The convicts are Khushnahar (22), Mahmudul Hasan (22) and Nadim Ahmed Naim (19).
According to police and court sources, the body of a tourist named Al Imran was found in the drain of the Riverview Hotel in Gowainghat on April 16, 2023. The police later recovered the body. His wife Khushnahar Begum fled after the incident. After the murder, the victim's father filed a case with Gowainghat Police Station as the plaintiff. Later, the police were able to arrest the alleged lover Mahmudul Hasan and his associate Nadim.
PP Advocate Jalal Uddin was present in the accused's court during the verdict. Another accused involved in the murder, Abdur Rakib, is being tried in the children's court as he is a minor. We are satisfied with the verdict.
