Three children drowned in separate places in Devidwar, Cumilla. Raisa (7), the only daughter of Rang Mistry Aliullah of Bijlibanjar village of Debidwar town district, drowned in the water yesterday afternoon. On the other hand, a child named Salma (18 months) drowned in the pond of the house of journalist Safiul Alam Rajiv of Bara Alampur village in the same upazila at around 4:30 pm.
In the afternoon the child's mother went to bathe in the pond. Meanwhile, baby Salma was playing with the children. The child's mother came home and found him floating in the pond. Locals brought him to the Upazila Health Complex at 5 pm, and the doctor on duty declared him dead. Salma is the daughter of Sohrab Hossain Sohag of Bara Alampur village.
