The leaders and activists in a dilemma for the second time

After the completion of a first-round conference, it has been decided to hold the triennial conference of two wards of Dhaka Metropolitan South (DSCC) Awami League once again. Talking about the complexity of the border, the initiative of a new conference has been taken in wards 61 and 64. Local leaders and activists are in a dilemma over this.

On September 26, a conference of ward number 61 was held with Kadamtali thana of Metropolitan South and five wards under this police station. Besides, on September 3, a conference of ward number 64 was held with Demra Thana of Metropolitan South and five wards under this police station.

Despite this, the date of the triennial conference of eight wards, including Jatrabari Thana and these two wards under this police station, has been announced on October 13 by connecting wards 61 and 64. To make these conferences successful, the leaders in charge of the Metropolitan South Awami League also held an extended meeting on Thursday.

The leaders and activists of the two wards believe that holding the conference of the same ward in two phases is a violation of organizational rules. This is being severely criticized on social media.

Shariful Islam Sharif, science and technology affairs secretary of Dhaka City South Awami League, who is in charge of organizing the conference, told reporters that ward no. 64 of DSCC falls under the limits of Demra and Jatrabadi and ward no. 61 of Kadamtali and Jatrabari police stations. For this reason, the leaders and activists have written to the city Awami League leaders to include the two wards in Jatrabari and hold the conference again.
