Journalist leaders believe that Journalist Arifur Rahman Dolan, Editor of Dhaka Times, is a victim of political revenge.

According to that, he was sent to jail in a money laundering case. They said that legally, he is still not the accused in the case. The leaders have commented that this incident is sad and a victim of political revenge.

In response to Arifur Rahman Dolan being sent to jail, journalist leaders yesterday said that Dolan was elected as an independent candidate from the Faridpur-1 constituency in the 12th National Parliament election. His rival was an influential leader of the ruling party. Who has been elected and has now become a minister. Understandably, Arifur Rahman Dolan was a victim of that political revenge. The matter needs to be looked into.

President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Sohel Haider Chowdhury said that sending Arifur Rahman Dolan to jail is a very sad incident even though he is not named in the case statement. Apart from journalism, since he is associated with local politics, it should be investigated whether he is a victim of political vendetta or not.

Md Mohiuddin, general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), said that it is very sad to send a journalist to jail like this before being proven in the case. There are many such cases against many businessmen and influential people of the country, they are not being sent to jail like this. It can be understood that Dolan is a victim of political revenge. However, the matter should be investigated more seriously. A journalist should not be sent to jail like this.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB) Sirajul Islam said that since the case is ongoing, the verdict has not yet been delivered and Arifur Rahman Dolan is a journalist. He could have waited till the verdict without sending him to jail. He did not flee the country. And he is the editor of a newspapers, he did not even flee the country.
