Networking meeting between Bangladesh and Pakistan businessmen

Businessmen and entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and Pakistan are seeing huge trade potential in the sectors of electronics products and intermediate industrial components, including medicines, surgical products, and equipment. In this regard, both sides are optimistic that joint ventures or joint trade initiatives can bring great benefits.

These were discussed at a networking meeting held between local businessmen and a Pakistani business delegation visiting Dhaka this morning in Motijheel, the capital. 

The meeting was organized by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

The meeting was presided over by FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman. Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, Muhammad Wasif, was present at the time.

Highlighting the importance of trade diversification between Bangladesh and Pakistan, FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman said that the motor and electronics components and intermediate industrial components sectors are important for both countries. Besides, there is an opportunity to utilize the potential of sectors such as pharmaceuticals, surgical products and components, textiles, etc.

He also mentioned that FBCCI and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) will work jointly to further strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

Stating that there is ample scope for expanding trade and investment between Bangladesh and Pakistan, Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, Muhammad Wasif, said, “I am hopeful that networking programs will continue between entrepreneurs of the two countries to explore new areas of trade and commerce.”

At the time, business representatives from both countries expressed interest in expanding trade in the sectors of textiles, electronics products, and intermediate industrial components, including medicines, surgical products, and equipment.

Also present at the meeting were former FBCCI Director Nasrin Fatema Awal, FBCCI Secretary General Md. Alamgir, FBCCI International Affairs Wing Head Md. Zafar Iqbal, NDC, business leaders, and others.
