Rising vegetables price soar unease

# Price of vegetables increased from Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg

# Easily available papaya price has reached at Tk 80

# Broiler chicken price creeps up Tk 20 per kg

 

In the midst of intense heatwave, everyone is uncomfortable in the market of the capital. The price of vegetables is very high now. Some vegetables have increased by Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg within a week.

The price of easily available papaya has reached at Tk 80. Compared to the last few weeks, the prices of some vegetables including cucumber, tomato, onion have increased by Tk 10 to 30. The price of broiler chicken has increased by Tk 20 per kg. However, fish and meat prices have stabilized at high prices.

After observing various capital markets including Shyamoli, Kalyanpur and Mohammad Krishi Bazar of Agargaon, such information was found.

Rahman Mia, a vegetable seller of Mirpur-1, said that the prices of some vegetables including cucumber, papaya and tomato have increased. Cucumber was sold at the rate of Tk 40 to 50 per kg last week, but today it has to be sold at the rate of Tk 70 to 80 per kg. Due to the heat wave, prices have increased in the wholesale market, so we have to sell at a higher price.

Another seller from capital’s Agargaon Awlad Hossain said, this week we are selling local onion at Tk 70, garlic (large size) at Tk 250 to 260, ginger at Tk 250, round potato at Tk 50 to 55 per kg.

Another vegetable seller Ratan Hossain said that the price of green chillies has increased by Tk 20 to 30 per kg.

While selling vegetables in a van in the Farmgate area, a vendor said that we are selling papaya at Tk 70 per kg. We are selling bitter gourd at Tk 80 per kg, green chillies at Tk 120 to 130 per kg. He said that the prices of papaya, coriander leaves and green chillies have increased this week compared to last week.

Fish seller Md Rajib Hossain said that, roe fish (1 kg or more weight) is Tk 380 to 400, silver carp and pangas of the same weight Tk 200 to 210, koi Tk 250 to 260, tilapia Tk 250 to 260, pubda at Tk 450 to 500, Singh fish medium size 450 to 480 kg. Hilsa fish (weighing 1 kg or more) is being sold at Tk 2,000 per kg, Hilsa weighing 800 to 900 grams at Tk 1,800 to 2,000 per kg. And hilsa weighing 600 grams or around was seen to be sold at Tk 1100 to 1200 per kg.

The price of broiler chicken has increased in the market. Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 220 per kg, up Tk 20 from last week. Sonali is being sold at Tk 290 to 300, Sonalika (Pakistani) Tk 380 to 390 per kg.

Meat and egg prices have stabilized at higher prices. Beef at Tk 750 to 780, goat beef at Tk 1050 to 1150. On this day, chicken eggs of the farm are being sold at Tk 130 per dozen, duck eggs at Tk 80 per dozen.

Apart from this, prices of other vegetables remained stable at higher prices as last week. This is what has been seen in the market. However, the price of all kinds of vegetables and fish and meat can be more or less Tk 10 to 20 depending on the market.
