Tigers’ 15 member squad for WC-23

After much speculation, Bangladesh's World Cup squad has finally been announced. Tamim Iqbal, the country's best opener, was not included in the 15-member team. But Mahmudullah Riyad is there.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the final squad for the 50-over World Cup to be held in India. 22-year-old Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who won the Under-19 World Cup, has been included in the World Cup squad.

Despite being dropped from the Asia Cup squad, experienced Mahmudullah Riyad is in the 15-man World Cup squad. Apart from this, young Tanzim Hasan Shakib has been included in the pace attack.

All-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Miraz are in the team. Nasum Ahmed and Sheikh Mahedi are in the spin attack. Apart from this, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shariful Islam and Hasan Mahmud have been included in the pace bowling attack.

The World Cup will begin on October 5. Bangladesh will start the tournament against Afghanistan on October 7. Nazmul Shanto has been made the vice-captain of the team in that tournament. Earlier, Liton Das was the vice-captain of the team. But the right-handed opener's form is not going well.

Tamim Iqbal was supposed to be in Bangladesh's World Cup squad. But he has been dropped from the World Cup squad as he is not fully fit. He announced his retirement after playing the first ODI in the series against Afghanistan in July. He later returned to the party after retiring at the prime minister's call.

Bangladesh World Cup squad: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Liton Das, Tanzid Tamim, Nazmul Shanto (vice-captain), Tawheed Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Sheikh Mahedi, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shariful Islam, Tanzim Shakib.
