Temperature to rise further in country

The heat wave is sweeping across the country. Given the heat wave, the Meteorological Department has issued a 'heat alert'. Yesterday, the department extended the 'heat alert' or severe heat wave by another 72 hours. It means that the 'heat alert' will continue for the next three days. This was informed in a press release signed yesterday by meteorologist Md. Bajlur Rashid.

Meanwhile, five people died due to heat stroke due to an extreme heat wave. Among them, one died in the capital, two in Chuadanga, one in Bagmara in Rajshahi, and one in Kushtia. Everyone has been advised to exercise caution when going outside to avoid the risk of heat stroke in extreme heat. It is also informed that, in the next 24 hours, very intense heat waves will pass over Pabna and Chuadanga districts. Apart from this, intense heat waves are flowing over Rajshahi, Tangail, Jashore, and Kushtia districts.

A mild to moderate heat wave is prevailing over the remainder of Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions including Srimangal and Chandpur districts and Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Barisal divisions, and may persist.

Sources say the heat wave may continue for the rest of April. But there will be no more extreme heat waves. Although there is a chance of rain in one or two parts of the country in the next 24 hours, there is no chance of rain in the whole country in the next week. Yesterday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Jashore and Chuadanga, 40.6 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Chuadanga, 42.2 degrees Celsius. The previous day, on Saturday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in the southern town of Jashore, 42.6 degrees Celsius. It was the highest temperature in the country that day. That day the temperature of the capital was 40.4 degrees Celsius. This was also the highest temperature in the city this year.

However, the city's temperature dropped by 2 degrees Celsius in a span of 24 hours yesterday.  Yesterday, the temperature in the city was 38.2 degrees Celsius, and the temperature in Dhaka dropped to 37.8 degrees Celsius. In the forecast for the next 24 hours, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Chattogram divisions may experience rain or thundershowers in more than 40 districts of the country Mild to intense heatwaves are blowing in different places.It is to be noted that the Department of Meteorology issued a 'heat alert' throughout the country in the first round on April 20 during the heat alert.

Rickshaw puller dies of heat stroke in capital:

A rickshaw puller named Abdul Awal (45) died after falling ill while driving a rickshaw in the hot summer. He fell ill yesterday afternoon while passing through the road behind Dhaka Nursing College. He was rescued unconscious and brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead around 4:30 pm. Deputy Inspector (SI) of Shahbag police station Suman said that Abdul Awal fell ill while driving the rickshaw. Later he was quickly rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. We believe he died of heat stroke due to overheating.

However, the exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report. The body has been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. The deceased Abdul Awal was the son of Azam Ali of Sinhagram of Lakhai police station of Habiganj district. He lived in Narayanganj and earned his livelihood by driving rickshaws in Shanirakhra and surrounding areas of the capital.

Two women die of heat stroke in Chuadanga:

The heat wave continues in Chuadanga for several days. The maximum temperature recorded in Chuadanga district yesterday was 40.6 degrees Celsius. The district administration has issued a heat alert due to heat. It is forbidden to go out of the house without necessity. However, many people are forced to go out of the house in this intense heat due to the need of work.

Meanwhile, in Chuadanga, two women died of heat stroke within an hour of intense heat wave. Both of them are residents of Beguarkhal village of Nagdah union of Alamdanga upazila. Ashura Khatun (25) and Ayesha Begum (70) died yesterday at 9:30 am while taking rice to the field for her husband. Locals said that Anwar Hossain of Beguarkhal village went to work in the field without eating in the morning. Around 9:30 AM, wife Ashura Khatun was taking rice to the field for her husband. Before reaching her husband's field, Ashura Khatun fell to the ground in the field of land.

Ashura died before field farmers reached the spot and took her to a doctor. An hour later, Ayesha Begum, wife of Akkas Ali of the same village, died at 10:30 am.  She was panting in the intense heat of several days. Rashedul Islam, a village doctor who was present at the scene, said that Ayesha Begum fell ill after several days of intense heat. Both died of heat stroke. Meanwhile, Jaminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Meteorological Office, said that the temperature may continue for a few more days. But there is no chance of rain right now.

There is not much difference between night and day temperature. Chuadanga is scorching hot most of the day. Walking around the city of Chuadanga, it can be seen that the common people are less likely to go out during the day. Although the working people came out, they have become unemployed in the empty streets. So many  people are resting in the shade under the trees in search of tranquility.

Farmer dies of heat stroke in Bagmara:

A farmer died of heat stroke while working in a maize field in Rajshahi's Bagmara. The farmer's name was Montu Hossain (45). He was the son of Muslim Ali of Jamalpur village of Goalkandi union. This incident happened yesterday afternoon. The temperature in Bagmara was 41 degrees Celsius at the time of the incident.

The family members said that they went out to work in the cornfield near the house in the morning. At around 12:30, the wife brought a jug full of water for her husband, who was working in the cornfield. She saw her husband lying unconscious inside the field and started screaming. On hearing his screams, the surrounding people rushed and with their help brought him to a private hospital in nearby Bhavaniganj in an autovan. The doctor on duty declared him dead.

Director of Bhabaniganj Clinic, Doctor Abdul Barik, said that the farmer was brought dead. Talking to the relatives and hearing the signs, it seems that he died of heat stroke. Sajeda Begum, the wife of the deceased, said that her husband died due to intense heat. There was no previous disease. Local UP member Israel Hossain said that farmer Montu died due to intense heat while working in the field.

College teacher dies of heat stroke in Kushtia:

Family members claimed that a college teacher named Rajab Ali (55) died of a heat stroke in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. According to family sources, he felt sick after returning home from college last Sunday afternoon. Immediate family members took him to Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex. After initial treatment there, when his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the ICU at Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

As the condition did not improve there, he was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka. He died there at 10:30 pm. Rajab Ali Kumarkhali was the Head of the Department of Mathematics at Govt College. Earlier on April 14 at noon, Abdul Hamid (52), son of deceased Siraj Pramanik of Chapaigachi village of Jagannathpur union of Kushtia Kumarkhali upazila, died of heat stroke.

Meanwhile, the number of patients in Kumarkhali Upazila Health Complex has increased due to intense heat. In this regard, Kushtia General Hospital Resident Medical Officer RMO Dr. Taos Kumar Sarkar said that the patient pressure has increased in summer compared to earlier. Especially children are coming to the health complex suffering from various diseases including diarrhea. We are providing the best possible treatment.
