When the winter season comes, movement of tigers increases in the villages next to the Sundarbans in Sharankhola of Bagerhat. Because, winter is the breeding season of tigers. At this time, tigers and tigresses look for each other's mates and consorts. Due to which they forgot the way and entered the locality. This is what Md Khalil Jamaddar, who has been working in the conservation of wild animals including tigers for 16 years, said.

Last Monday night, a tiger (Royal Bengal Tiger) entered the house of Halim Chaprashi at Bholar Char of Sonatala village, which is adjacent to the forest of Southkhali Union of the upazila. At around 10 pm, the tiger was seen by the house owner, Halim Chaparashi, near the cow house. Seeing him, the tiger quickly moved towards the river. Earlier, the tiger came to this same village on the night of January 11 and November 10. Although tigers come to the village repeatedly, they do not harm people or domestic animals. However, there is tiger fear among the villagers.

Sharankhola range officer (ACF) of East Sundarbans Sheikh Mahabub Hasan said, after receiving information about the tiger, forest guards and wild animal protection personnel have been sent to the spot to investigate. Villagers have been asked to be vigilant so that no one goes out alone after dusk.

Nirmal Kumar Pal, divisional forest officer (DFO) of the Khulna region of the Sundarbans Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation Department, said that the migration of tigers increases during the breeding season. Because of that, tigers and tigresses can get lost and come to the locality. When it realizes that it is not his territory, he goes back to the forest.

He also said that barbed wire fencing will be constructed through the Sundarbans Protection Project to prevent tigers or wild animals from entering the locality. The work is scheduled to start in the current financial year.
