DNCC to manage urban healthcare activities

To make essential primary healthcare more accessible, equitable, and quality for city dwellers, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken full responsibility for urban healthcare activities from today.

Since 1998, urban maternity hospitals, primary healthcare centers, and satellite centers have been operating in DNCC through the Urban Primary Healthcare Services Delivery Project (Phase 2) under the Local Government Department. Under the project, various types of healthcare services were ensured for citizens through 6 urban maternity hospitals, 30 primary health centers, and 60 satellite centers in 21 wards.

As the term of this project ends on June 30, 2025, these healthcare activities will be directly supervised and managed by DNCC from July 1, 2025. It is expected that these healthcare services will now be more sustainable, transparent, and accessible to citizens under the City Corporation‍‍`s management.

DNCC believes that healthcare is a fundamental right of citizens. Therefore, in this new journey to ensure primary healthcare, there will be no shortage of services provided as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Local Government and in collaboration with stakeholders.

This initiative marks the beginning of a significant change in the urban healthcare system, where urban dwellers, especially the poor and marginalized, will get quality healthcare at their fingertips.
