Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted a mosquito control and special cleaning drive in Khilgaon North Shahjahanpur area today.
In the presence of the Administrator of DSCC Md. Shahjahan Mia, the people of the Waste Management Department, the Health Department and the local society participated in this special cleaning drive.
In this cleaning drive that started at 6 am in the morning, the cleaning workers of the Waste Management Department, the mosquito control workers of the Health Department cleaned the North Shahjahanpur residential area, the lake and the adjacent areas and applied mosquito repellent.
During the cleaning program, the Administrator of DSSC, Md. Shahjahan Mia said, "Keeping the monsoon season in mind, we have started two-level activities to prevent dengue, the first is regular mosquito control and cleanliness activities. The second is special mosquito control and cleanliness activities and public awareness rallies involving the public, which will be conducted in ten areas of DSCC in phases. A special campaign has already been conducted in Jatrabari and Dhanmondi.
The administrator also said that the city residents should be aware and should dispose of the water accumulated inside the house, in flower pots, in the basins and on the balconies within three days on their own initiative. The City Corporation and the city residents should work together to prevent dengue.
In addition, a public awareness rally was held as part of the campaign activities with the participation of local residents.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Secretary Mohammad Bashirul Haque Bhuiyan, along with all department heads and local leaders, were present.
