DSCC named a road after martyr ‍‍Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz‍‍

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) unveiled a plaque on road named after July Uprising martyr "Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz" on Old Road No. 27 in Dhanmondi on today by the Administrator of DSCC Md. Shahjahan Mia.

At that time, Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz‍‍`s father, Alhaj Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, and the teachers of his educational institution, Dhaka Residential Model College, were present.

On 18 July 2024, Mohammad Farhanul Islam Bhuiyan (Farhan Faiyaz), a class XI student of Dhaka Residential Model College, who was at the forefront of the anti-discrimination student movement between Rapa Plaza and Genetic Plaza on Old Road No. 27 in Dhanmondi, was shot in the chest and martyred in an attack by the police and Chhatra League.

At the unveiling ceremony of the plaque of the road named after him, Md. Shahjahan Mia, Administrator of DSCC, said that Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz, a talented student of Dhaka Residential Model College, was martyred here in the July Uprising. Farhan Faiyaz is one of the students and people who have been martyred in the July Uprising to build an anti-discrimination Bangladesh. DSCC has renamed the old road number 27 in Dhanmondi and unveiled a plaque named after Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz today. Our efforts will continue until the noble purpose for which the martyrs of the July Uprising laid down their lives to build a beautiful Bangladesh against discrimination is realized.

Speaking as a special guest, Shaheed Farhan Fayyaz‍‍`s father, Alhaj Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, said, "The loss I have suffered as my only son was martyred in the student movement against discrimination is irreparable. I thank the interim government and the DSCC for naming this road after Faiyaz.”

He expressed his hope that all those who played a role in freeing the country from fascism will be remembered in stages. 

The guests participated in the unveiling of the plaque and the prayer ceremony organized for the martyrs and the injured of the July Uprising.

The plaque unveiling ceremony was attended by DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman and all department heads.
