32 voluntary organizations formed a human chain to establish basic rights including prevention of river erosion, safe navigation, healthcare, improvement of quality of education, stopping corruption in various departments of Hatia in Noakhali.
More than 500 members of the voluntary organizations organized the human chain program on the main road in front of Hatia Upazila Parishad and Health Complex at 11 am yesterday.
Speakers at the human chain said that the families of the victims of river erosion in Hatia for a long time are living inhumane days due to lack of government grants.
Besides, the long-standing demand of the islanders on the Nalchira Chairmanghat river route was urged to start the ferry service immediately. They warned to stop the continuous corruption and looting of government offices on the island. There was a strong demand to upgrade the only government 50-bed hospital for the island's 700,000 people to 150 beds with modern facilities.
