Forest department officials have recovered a turtle weighing 34 kg in Barisal. The turtle was recovered from Kashipur bazar in the city on Friday night.
Barisal Conservator of Forests Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid Khan said the turtle was brought to Kashipur market for sale at night. Later, when the locals suspected it, they seized the turtle and informed the police. Sensing this, the dealer fled. The police later informed the forest department. Forest officials came and rescued the turtle and took it to the range officer's office. Later, after talking to the divisional officials, the turtle was released from ghat area of Kirtankhola River at night, he said.
