Demand to reduce commodities price

A rally was held in Barishal to press for various demands, including reduction in prices of essential commodities including rice, pulses and oil.

The rally was held in front of Ashini Kumar Hall on Sadar Road in the city, organized by the Barishal District Committee of the Revolutionary Communist League of Bangladesh (RCLB).

Professor Nripendra Nath Barai, general secretary of the district unit of RCLB, said that the government is talking about development even though the people are suffering due to the rise in the prices of essential commodities. No one can fill their stomachs by listening that, nor can run the family. The real picture of development can be understood by looking at TCB's trucks’ lines. Today, even the middle class people have been forced to stand in the TCB line. The government has become hostage to the syndicate.

Blaming the government-backed syndicate for the price hike, the speakers said that no action is being taken against the syndicate of price hike through market manipulation. Speakers demanded the introduction of rationing system across the country, bringing back the money laundered abroad and announcing the roadmap for the election immediately.

They also warned of mass movement if all measures including reducing the prices of essential commodities are not taken immediately.

RCLB central committee member Professor Md Jalilur Rahman, district committee member Vice-Principal Harun-ur-Rashid, Principal Aminur Rahman Khokon, Professor Dhirendra Nath Roy, Zafar Ahmed Talukder and others were present on the occasion.
