Freedom fighter Mohammad Hossain Ali of Raninagar in Naogaon lives in a risky mud house. There is no guarantee that the mud house will collapse due to not being renovated for a long time.
Hossain Ali is not getting the government house gifted by the Prime Minister due to various complications, even though he has been living with his family for years in such a risky mud house.
Freedom fighter Md Hossain Ali, son of late Babur Ali of Khatteswar Raninagar village in the upazila, said he has been living in a risky mud house with his elderly wife and three sons and their families. It is not possible to do any heavy work due to age, so it is completely dependent on the allowance money. The three sons also live with their families with low income by doing various works.
He said, with the freedom fighter allowance received from the government, I am living with the family of my sons including myself. In such a situation, it is impossible for me to build a new brick house even if there is space. So, as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, I got an allocation of a house in the fiscal year 2021-22 under the project of constructing housing for insolvent freedom fighters in the second phase. I was very happy to see my name on the list of such gifts that at the end of my life. It was heard that the construction of the house will start within few days. It is going to be almost two years to hear the assurance, but the construction of the house has not yet started. I do not know whether I will get the opportunity to stay in the brick house gifted by the Prime Minister at the end of my life. Therefore, I wish the good vision of the Prime Minister to provide a quick accommodation.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Mehedi Hasan said that due to the cancellation of the second phase housing project allocated to insolvent freedom fighters, all the activities of construction of houses were stopped. Recently, all the activities of the project have been started again. Construction of all the houses allotted through tender will be started soon. After the construction of the house, freedom fighter Hossain Ali will no longer have to live in a risky mud house.
