Gambling event is going on in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar Manoharpur Amtla crop field in the name of Baishakhi fair. Despite the administration's disapproval, this gambling event was set up publicly, but everyone is in a state of panic. Upazila and police administration do not know about the gambling scene. It is known that this gambling event is going on under the name of Baishakhi fair in the crop field, every day in Baishakhi fair; there are naked dances under the cover of Yatra circus, late night drugs, gambling board, etc.
This fair is starting from April 25 which is inaugurated by the administration. Rafel draw tickets are being sold in front of the Thana administration and Upazila administration. Every day loud microphones are being used to in vans and easybikes to sell raffle draw tickets by offering big prizes in a broad day light. Masudur Rahman Khan, the general secretary of Manoharpur Majher Para Abasan Jame Mashjid, wondered and asked, where are the special power of siru, Mostu and Sentus syndicate?
A local influential group is running this gambling event by cheating the upazila administration in exchange of huge amount of money every day. This gambling event has been installed in 15 places. Daily post correspondent talked to Siru, one of the organizers of the fair. He arrogantly denied the fact and said gambling is not gambling, this is also a part of Baisakhi fair.
Residents are seeking the intervention of the District Commissioner Divisional Commissioner in this regard. However, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer denied these allegations. He said that Baisakhi fair is approved but gambling or raffle draw is not approved. Deputy Commissioner Dr Kissinger Chakma said that no gambling or obscenity will be accepted in the name of the fair, I am instructing the Upazila Nirbahi Officer to take action if anything like that happens.
