Guimara Army Region assisted flood victims

Unions of Fatikchhari Upazila of Chattogram District affected by the recent floods were severely affected by the floods. In cooperation with the Guimara Region of the Army to stand by the people, the Guimara Army Region provided rehabilitation assistance to the flood victims in Fatikchari Bhujpur's crowded ' Ek Takar Bazar' and Fatikchari.

Brigadier General Md Raisul Islam, the Region Commander of Guimara Army Region, inaugurated the fancy one-taker market at Bhujpur National School and College Ground, the area under responsibility of Laxmichari Army Zone, last Thursday morning.

The soldiers of the 24th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army were engaged in helping and rescuing the flood victims in Fatikchari from the beginning. Although the inundation has naturally receded in various areas, the flood-affected people are still unable to recover from their losses. In this upazila, the relief and rehabilitation activities of the flood victims have been continued by the army members of the Lakshichari zone of the Guimara region.

The Region Commander of Guimara Region, Brigadier General Md Raisul Islam, visited the flood victims' rehabilitation program in Fatikchari. In the said rehabilitation program, 60 affected flood affected families were distributed agricultural fertilizers and seeds, tin for construction of houses, sewing machines to support helpless women and livestock. Also, with the help of Bidyananda Foundation, food items were distributed to about 500 people under Ek Takar Bazar. Among food items, 19 items including rice, pulses, flour, oil, eggs, chicken, clothes, educational materials, agricultural materials have been distributed.

In addition to this, around 800 patients were provided free medical care and medicine through the Guimaras Region and the Bidyananda Foundation. After visiting the rehabilitation program, Guimaras Region Commander Brigadier General Md Raisul Islam exchanged views with local people and journalists. He assured that the assistance program of the army will continue until the condition of the flood victims improves. Laxmichari Zone Captain Lt Col Tajul Islam, Zone Deputy Commander Major Sarwar Jahan, Fatikchari Upazila Assistant Commissioner Lands and Fatikchari Municipal Administrator Md Mejbah Uddin, Bidyananda Foundation Board Member Md Jamal Uddin and other military officials were present. The families who have benefited from the rehabilitation expressed their gratitude for this great initiative of the army.
