Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two members of the KNF, Rowan Lin Bom (55), and Chewsim Bom (55), in a special operation in Bandarban.
This information was confirmed by RAB-15 yesterday noon.
The two Kuki-Chin members arrested were Chewsim Bom, one of the group's chief coordinators of the group's central committee, and Rowan Lin Bom, a KNF leader. They are residents of Rowangchhari Durnibar Para and Sualak Sharon Para villages.
Meanwhile, the operation against KNF is going through in the hills areas since the banks looting incidents took place.
Regarding this matter, Army Chief SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said, "Our law enforcers have been able to catch some terrorists on Saturday night. Some weapons were also recovered. A process has begun. The army is capable of controlling the situation in Bandarban. You will see some visible activities. You will get the results in time. I want to confirm through you that the Prime Minister's instructions are very clear to me. For the peace of the people of Bangladesh, for the sovereignty of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister's strict instructions have to be done. We firmly believe that we will be able to implement it."
He also said that terrorists have been working day after day under the umbrella of peace talks. Their intentions, including theft, robbery and hijacking, will be prevented to deal with the situation through coordinated joint force operations.
Earlier, he visited Ruma and Thanchi upazilas to monitor the situation in connection with the terrorist attack on Sonali Bank and the abduction of the bank manager. Later, he exchanged views with the army members of the region. At this time, the army members were called upon to always be ready for the operation.
The army chief also added that in the beginning, there was some belief that the problem would be resolved through peace talks. But through the talks, the terrorists have started unrest again. This is a major threat to Bangladesh. Therefore, necessary steps are being taken to eliminate the activities of these terrorists. Besides, terrorists have no place in Bangladesh.
