The police arrested six members of the dacoit team during the robbery preparation in Sadarghat police station area of Chattogram city. Police arrested them yesterday from West Motherbari area of the city. One local weapon, four sharp knives, two lock breaking tools and two wrenches were recovered from them. Later, according to the information given by them, the police recovered 51 bhari 12 anna 3 ratti 9 points of gold hidden under the ground in the empty space of Sanai cinema hall in Barek building area under Doublemooring police station.
The arrested persons told in initial interrogation of the police that a few days ago they stole the gold from a house of Amir Bagh resident in Mehdibagh with the help of each other. The six arrested are- Md Arif Hossain Mehedi alias Mehedi Hasan (26), Md Sharif (20), Md Mehdi Hasan Rubel (23), Md Saidul Islam Regan (22), Md Hannan Hossain (23) and Md Riyad Hossain (19).
According to Sadarghat police station, they had information from a secret source beforehand that some people were preparing to commit a robbery in West Motherbari area with weapons. Later, it was learned that the members of the arrested dacoity gang had stolen a huge amount of gold from a house of Amir Bagh resident in Mehdibagh a few days ago. According to their information, Team Sadarghat recovered the stolen gold hidden under the ground of empty space of Sanai cinema hall in Barek building area under Doublemooring police station. A case has been filed against the arrested and sent to court. Meanwhile, Chowkbazar Thana police sources said that the police conducted an operation to recover goods in the case of a theft in a house in Amir Bagh residential area of Mehdi Bagh under Chowkbazar Thana.
In this regard, Wali Uddin Akbar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawkbazar police station, said that the location of the gold robbers in Mehdi Bagh was confirmed and the operation was conducted jointly with the help of Sadarghat police station. After the arrest of six people with weapons from the Madar Bari, the stolen gold was recovered from the place shown by them.
