Leaders of the Microbus, Jeep and Pickup Owners Cooperative Association have announced a 20 percent discount to facilitate the travel of tourists in Bandarban from October 1 to November 30.
Hotel-Motel Owners Association has also given a discount of 30 to 40 percent. Md Nashirul Alam, president of the cooperative society, made this announcement at a press conference in the hall of the Bandarban Press Club on Sunday morning. President Nashirul Alam said in the press conference that the businessmen are not succeeding in preventing the collapse of Bandarban's tourism business even with various initiatives. Various plans are being taken by the administration as well as the traders. But tourists are not coming to Bandarban as expected. Winter season is ahead. A few years ago, Bandarban was crowded with tourists during this season.
Sirajul Islam, General Secretary of Bandarban Hotel Motel Resort Owners Association, said that attractive discounts have been arranged for tourists by hotel-motel owners. He said that 30 to 40 percent discount is being given from each residential hotel in special areas.
On this occasion, Nezam Uddin Chowdhury, General Secretary of Microbus, Jeep and Pickup Owners Cooperative Association, Aminul Islam Bachchu, President of Bandarban Press Club, Acting General Secretary NA Zakir and journalists from various print and electronic media were present.
